In AY 2018-19 the CTL launched a research project on faculty experiences teaching in the grade free first semester. We interviewed almost 30 Yale-NUS faculty who have taught in the first semester to learn about their experiences, approaches, and lessons-learned. We uncovered some excellent strategies and some interesting tensions between our intention in offering grade-free courses, and how we teach those classes.
