Many of us are dissatisfied with the course syllabus–the document that we’re obligated to produce, that our students typically don’t read, and that nowadays bursts at the seams with requirements, disclaimers, and other quasi-legal languages. We know that as a piece of writing we make for an audience, the syllabus often fails – and fails because it doesn’t do the work it needs to do.
